What is the deadline?

How do I apply?
Apply by submitting an application form here. There are no minimum or maximum length requirements, but clear and concise answers are preferred. The foundation will get in touch should it require additional information or materials.
Can I save my application and come back later?
No. If you don't want to fill out your application form all at once, just copy and paste the form questions into another document and submit your application once you have finalized your answers.
Is there a guaranteed prize?
Yes, there is a guaranteed prize of $10,000. If the winning individual/team was referred to the challenge by an intermediary individual/organization, we will award a $5,000 “finder’s fee” to a charitable organization of the intermediary’s choosing.
Is implementation funding guaranteed?
No. After awarding the prize, the foundation will evaluate all submissions for implementation funding, but it is not guaranteed.
How will the winner be selected?
The foundation will review all submissions and will share the top submissions with a small team of reviewers. The foundation may also solicit feedback from domain experts on specific submissions, including the thought leaders identified in the application form. A winner will be selected based on how well the submission meets the challenge criteria and answers the questions on the application form.
Will I receive feedback on my submission?
No. Unless the foundation requires more information or additional materials, you will not receive feedback on your submission.
Can I submit multiple application forms?
Yes, you may submit multiple applications if you have more than one idea.

The prize is sponsored by a San Francisco-based family foundation. Given its small staff, the foundation prefers to remain anonymous during the public portion of the competition. Should the foundation be interested in learning more about a project or applicant, it will reach out directly.
